Privacy Statement

GENERAL

  • Dikhoff Van Dongen Advocaten B.V. (hereinafter referred to as “DVD”) respects your personal data and ensures that the personal information provided to us or otherwise obtained is treated confidentially. With the following, the duty of information to the data subject(s) whose personal data are processed by DVD, as laid down in the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter referred to as: “GDPR”), is implemented.

APPLICABILITY

  • DVD processes personal data in order to be able to offer services, to improve services and to be able to communicate personally with you as a data subject.

PURPOSE OF PROCESSING PERSONAL DATA
DVD processes the personal data mentioned below exclusively for the following purposes:

  • providing legal services, including the execution of a contract and conducting (legal) proceedings;
  • collection of invoices;
  • advice, mediation, and referral;
  • complying with our legal and regulatory obligations;
  • sending newsletters;
  • recruitment and selection (application).

WHAT PERSONAL DATA IS PROCESSED BY DVD?

DVD processes the following (types or categories of) personal data:

  • name;
  • address;
  • zip code;
  • place of residence;
  • email address;
  • telephone number;
  • bank account/IBAN number.
  • The personal data has been provided to us on initiative of the data subject concerned, has been obtained in the context of the provision of services, has been made known to us by third parties (including other parties), or has become known via public sources.

BASIS FOR PROCESSING PERSONAL DATA

    DVD processes the aforementioned personal data exclusively on the following grounds as referred to in Article 6 of the GDPR:

  • legal obligation;
  • performance of a contract;
  • consent of the data subject;
  • legitimate interests.

SHARING OF PERSONAL DATA WITH THIRD PARTIES

  • DVD will only share your personal data with third parties to the extent necessary for the provision of services with due observance of the aforementioned purposes. This includes the observation of the practice by another lawyer, the performance of an expert investigation or the engagement of another third party on behalf of and at the instruction of DVD, such as an IT supplier, but also the provision of your personal data in connection with (legal) proceedings or correspondence with the other party.
  • In addition, DVD may provide personal data to a third party, such as a supervisory authority or another body with public authority, insofar as there is a statutory obligation to do so.
  • A data processing agreement will be concluded with the third party that processes your personal data on behalf of and at the instruction of DVD, as a result of which that third party will also be obliged to comply with the GDPR. Third parties engaged by DVD, who offer services as data controllers, are themselves responsible for compliance with the GDPR for the (further) processing of your personal data. This may include an accountant, notary, or other third party engaged for the purpose of a second opinion or an expert report.

SECURITY OF PERSONAL DATA

  • DVD attaches great importance to the security and protection of your personal data and, taking into account the technical possibilities, ensures that appropriate technical and organisational measures are taken to guarantee a level of security appropriate to the risk. In the event that DVD makes use of services provided by third parties, such as an IT supplier, DVD shall, in the context of the protection of personal data, lay down in a data processing agreement arrangements on adequate security measures.

RETENTION PERIOD FOR PERSONAL DATA

  • DVD does not retain personal data that are processed for longer than is necessary for the aforementioned purposes of the data processing or for longer than is required by laws and regulations.

PRIVACY RIGHTS OF DATA SUBJECTS

  • You can send a request for inspection, correction, restriction, objection, transferability of data, removal of your personal data or revocation of previously given consent via the contact details below. You will receive further information from us within four weeks of receiving your request. Circumstances may arise in which DVD can not or not fully execute your request as a party involved. These include the confidentiality obligations of lawyers and statutory retention periods.

  • In order to ensure that we provide the correct person with the relevant personal data on the basis of your request, we ask you to submit for verification a copy of a valid passport, driving licence or identity document with the passport photograph and BSN number concealed. DVD will only process requests that relate to your own personal data.

USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA

  • The DVD website www.dikhoffvandongen.nl contains buttons and/or links to promote or share web pages on social (media) networks or websites of third parties, such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook. DVD does not supervise and is not responsible for the processing of your personal data by and through such third parties. The use of these media is therefore at your own risk. Before you use the services of third parties, it is advisable to first read the privacy statement of those third parties.

STATISTICS AND COOKIES

  • DVD keeps track of the usage data of the website(s) for statistical purposes. The personal data collected in this way are anonymous and will not be sold by DVD to third parties.
  • In order to increase the user-friendliness of the DVD website, so-called ‘cookies’ are used. A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your computer, tablet or smartphone during your visit to the DVD website. You can refuse the use of these cookies at any time, although this may limit the functionality and user-friendliness of the website.
  • The DVD website only uses cookies that do not or only slightly affect the privacy of the website visitor. DVD only uses technical and functional cookies and anonymous analytical cookies that do not require the consent of the website visitor. DVD uses Google Analytics to collect statistical data about your visit to our website. DVD has set up Google Analytics in such a way that it does not infringe on the privacy of our visitors. AMENDMENT OF PRIVACY STATEMENT

  • DVD reserves the right to change the contents of this privacy statement at any time without prior notice. Amendments to the privacy statement will be published on the DVD website. Therefore, please consult our website regularly.
