Rob van Dongen | Attorney

Rob van Dongen has been employed in the media and entertainment industry for approximately 35 years: currently as attorney, before that as a musician. Together with Lois Lane and Prince, he composed and produced the music for the Lois Lane album ‘Precious’.
Since the mid-90s, Rob has been the media and entertainment attorney for many parties. Not only have both national and international artists retained his services, but amongst his clients are also managers, booking agents, record companies, music publishers, and event organizers. Rob is a true expert in the field of (music) copyright, neighbouring rights and contract law. Among other things, he conducts litigation and advises his clients on negotiations, royalty issues, digital distribution, collective management organizations, and (music) plagiarism.
Furthermore Rob works for producers and creatives in both the theater and musical world.
The digitalization of the entertainment industry and its impact on (European) regulation, affects how Rob supports his clients. He specifically focuses on IT and privacy law. Recently, Rob successfully completed the highly regarded postgraduate Grotius program on IT and computer law.
Rob’s practice as a lawyer is a mixture of advice and litigation. He works passionately and closely with his clients to pursue the best possible solution.
Rob has registered the following main (and sub) areas of law in the Register of Legal Practice of the Netherlands Bar Association: Information Law, Media Law and Intellectual Property Law. Pursuant to this registration, he is required to obtain ten training points in each registered main area of law each calendar year in accordance with the standards of the Dutch Bar Association.
