Rob van Dongen, LLM

Rob van Dongen has been working in the media and entertainment industry for over 35 years. Nowadays as a media- and entertainment lawyer, previously as a musician. Together with the Amsterdam band Lois Lane and Prince, he composed and produced the music for the Lois Lane album ‘Precious’.

Since the mid-1990s, Rob has been the regular media and entertainment lawyer for many. He acts for national and international (EDM) DJs, artists and composers, as well as artist managers, booking agents, labels, music publishers, promoters and festival producers. Rob also works in the theater and musical industry, for both theater producers and makers.

Rob is an absolute expert in the field of (music) copyright law, neighboring rights, privacy law and contract law and frequently advises on these topics, for example in matters relating to royalties, digital distribution (via YouTube, for example), collective management of music rights (Buma/Stemra and Sena) and (music) plagiarism. In addition to his advisory practice, Rob is a much sought-after litigator and regularly – successfully – litigates on behalf of his clients.

Rob also advises in the field of privacy and IT, having successfully completed the highly regarded postgraduate Grotius course in ICT and IT law.

Pursuant to this registration, he is required to obtain ten education points in each registered main area of law every calendar year, in accordance with the standards of the Dutch Bar Association.
